About

Gary Green – Founder and Director

Human society, in recent times, has become more divided, more polarised, more antagonistic. The habits we live by are the result of repetition, developed over time, often unconsciously.

The Culture of Peace Institute was started in 2006 with the vision of establishing, through collaboration, education and service, vibrant human communities sustained by a culture aligned with humankind’s highest ideals and motives.

Such qualities as creativity and integrity, selflessness and service, innovation and trust, perseverance and compassion, unity, justice and peace would underpin such a culture.

The responsibility for establishing a culture of peace lies with one of us. Each individual contributes to the culture of the world we live in. An individual’s view of reality affects the goals they set, the way they interact with others, the work they do and the contribution they will make to the world.

The individual’s behaviour affects family and friends, the family contributes to the strength of the community and the community exerts its influence on the wider society.

The intention of this Institute is to provide a space for the germination of new thinking about the culture we create and a vehicle through which that thinking can be translated into reality.
